Frequently asked questions

Why was Alivoil founded?

When you buy olive oil from the supermarket, you’re usually limited to mixes of oils from different harvests. This is a problem because over time, olive oil degrades in quality, losing much of its flavour and its health benefits. Shops also leave their olive oil exposed to light and fail to protect them from freezing temperatures and extreme heat, which rapidly speed up the degradation process.

We found that the majority of suppliers in the UK which sell fresh-harvest olive oil do so at a large markup, resulting in a product that is inaccessible or unrealistic for your average buyer wanting to use it daily.

That’s why we decided to found a company on a core principle of fresh-harvest extra virgin olive oil, stored correctly — but at an affordable price.

Does Alivoil use its own product?

Yes. We at Alivoil provide the same product we use as our main oil for cooking and drizzling on a daily basis.

How should I use your olive oil?

Our main goal was to provide culinary olive oil of excellent quality at a reasonable price. That means our olive oil is perfect for drizzling and dressing, but also for cooking as a much tastier and healthier replacement for refined cooking oils such as canola oil.

However, you aren’t limited to that, and you can use our olive oil how you please, such as for skincare. Some of us even choose to drink it straight for its health benefits.

Why a subscription?

We’re confident that after trying our product, there’s a good chance you’re going to want to use it every day as a replacement for the oils you might usually buy.

Subscription also lets us keep the price of our olive oil affordable for the average consumer.
